Why can't I make a new Habbo with a certain name?

If you are making a new Habbo and the alert 'Habbo name is not suitable' pops up, that means either there are spaces or symbols that can't be used or the word is blocked from being used as a Habbo name.

This is a list of the characters you can use in a Habbo name:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789-=?!@:.,

What does it mean when I get "Oops Error message" when I try to log in?

This is rare. If it happens, it's usually due to too many people trying to connect at once, so your computer cannot connect to our server. Refresh your Habbo window by pressing Ctrl-R or F5 and try again.

Please use the Habbo Help Tool to send an email. Select 'None of the above' from the drop down list. Provide us with proof that you really own this Habbo. Once we have verified this information, we will email you the birth date used. See example below.

For our security check, you first have to provide your current password and birthday.

After you have completed the form, verification emails will be sent to the old and new email addresses.

The email sent to the new address contains a link which you must click on to verify that this is the correct address.

The email sent to the old address will allow you to cancel the change if you made a mistake.

NOTE: Never change the email address if another Habbo tells you to do it.

How do I change my password?

When logged into Habbo, click on 'Account Settings' from the personalised front page. Click on 'My Password'.

For security reasons, you have to provide your current password and birthday.

IMPORTANT: Never change your password to something someone has told you to. They could log into your account and steal all your Habbo furni. If someone asks you for your password, or asks you to change it, send a 'Call for Help' to report it to a Moderator.

How do I make a Habbo?

On the homepage, click on 'Create Your Habbo' from the animated screen. You see this when not logged in obviously.

You can also click on 'Register' within the Sign In page.

Click and choose the outfits and appearance of your Habbo. Enter your Habbo name, passwod, birthday and email address.

You need to type in the security code (To make sure you're real!) and accept the 'Terms of Service'.

Do I have to pay to play Habbo?

Nope. Creating a Habbo, exploring the Hotel and chatting to people are all free!

For a few Habbo Credits though, you can decorate your room, buy gifts for your friends, buy a Habbo Club membership, or go diving. Habbo Credits only cost around S$0.30 or RM0.60 for 1 credit.

How can I change my Habbo name?

You can't change the account name yourself.

If you want a different Habbo name, all you have to do is create a new account and transfer any furni and items to the new account.

NOTE: Staff can change the Habbo name, but this is only done for special cases, e.g. the name is offensive.

Why do I have to enter my current password to change it?

We need to check that it's really you.

If you are using a public computer, and walk away just for a while, someone could try to change your password as a prank. This check will stop it.

NOTE: Make sure you keep your password safe!

Why do I have to enter my date of birth to change my account details?

You have to enter your date of birth, or whatever date of birth you put on the account when you created your Habbo for security reasons. It's a way of making sure it is you changing the account details and not a scammer.

NOTE: Make sure you know the date of birth on your account. It is a good idea to put in your real date of birth as you won't forget that.

What characters can be used in my password?

Your password should contain letters and numerals. Other symbols/characters cannot be used. A good password is between six and nine characters and contains at least one number and both upper and lowercase letters. You should try to change your passwords every month to make your account as safe as possible.

What should I do if I cannot log into Habbo?

There are a number of reasons why Habbo Hotel may not work for you.

Firewalls - If you have a firewall runing on your computer or network, make sure you have specific ports opened on it, so that you may use Habbo Hotel. Also make sure you haven't denied access to Habbo Hotel by checking which programs are blocked from accessing the internet.

You Might Be Banned - If you see a message popping up saying you have been denied access, wait two hours, then retry. If you still can't get in after 7 days, email us using the Contact Us form and select 'I think I'm banned?' from the drop down menu

Out Of Memory - Try restarting your computer. Also, make sure you don't have too many other browser windows/programs open when you try to use Habbo Hotel.

Caching - Your ISP may be keeping an old copy of our site on its servers, there isn't much we can do about this, but it will usually update in a few hours.

Disconnected - You keep getting the 'Disconnected! Please reload Habbo Hotel' pop up. If this happens it means the connection between your computer and Habbo Hotel has broken. Sometimes you will still be able to speak and move about, but some parts of the hotel - like your Navigator or Console - might not work.

Try reloading the hotel (Ctrl-R or F5). Since this problem is caused by the connection from your ISP (who you connect to the Internet through, e.g. Singnet, Maxonline, etc) to the Internet breaking, it may due to high Internet traffic and so just trying later might help. If you use a very popular ISP that has lots of users and gets very busy, you may get disconnected more often. It may even be worth switching to a different ISP.

Finally, if your Friends List is really, really long it might be a good idea to remove some of the people you don't talk to anymore.

Script Errors - Do you get pop ups saying 'script error' or 'this file is not a director file' etc. This sometimes happens if we have added new things to the Hotel, like new bits of furni in the Catalogue. To solve the problem - close all Internet Explorer (IE) windows. Open a new IE window. Choose 'Internet Options' in the 'Tools' menu on the top menu bar. Choose 'Temporary Internet Files' in the window that opens. Click on the button labelled 'Delete Files...'. Click on 'OK' to empty the locally cached files. Close the IE window. When you go into the Hotel next it will take a bit longer to load, but the script errors should not occur.

Black Screen - Do you click on 'Check in' and all you get is a black screen. Most likely there is a problem with your Shockwave download. The best thing to do is go to the Habbo Hotel Home Page and download it again. When the download is complete re-install shockwave.

Security Risk Pop Up - A scary looking pop up appears warning of a security risk. This is a normal security pop up from Shockwave. To stop it appearing again, just tick the third box and 'OK'.

Never Connect - Do you type in your Habbo name and password and it just keeps saying 'connecting', until you eventually get the 'disconnected' pop up. Most likely the Hotel is full up, so wait a while and try again. The Hotel gets busier after school and at the weekends. However, if you got a pop up the last time you came to the Hotel saying that you'd been refused permission, your Habbo is banned and that is why you can't get in. Or is someone else who uses the same computer has been banned permanently, they may have got the computer banned too. If you think this is the case, please ask everyone who uses the computer what their Habbo names are and email them to us using the the Contact Us form so we can check.

Out Of Memory Alert - When loading Habbo Hotel, or afterwards, you may get an alert saying 'Out of memory even after purging all cast members ..'. Habbo Hotel has loads of graphics that consume your computer memory (RAM) and the alert means that there is not enough free memory for Habbo to work. In many cases, the following tricks help:

1) Close your browser and other applications (such as word processor, spreadsheet, mp3-player). Now open your browser and try Habbo Hotel again.

2) Restart the computer. Often, when your computer has been in use for long periods, its memory gets full.
