The Habbo Staff love receiving articles, pictures and other entries from you. For competition entries however, do follow our simple and helpful guides so your entry is accepted.

Food Review Submissions

It's no secret that Habbos love food. Perhaps you think that you have the lowdown on the best food in town, or you just found a lovely restaurant that you just have to tell everyone about. Or maybe you just want to warn everyone away from that terrible dessert stall you visited the other day.

Whichever it is, this is your chance to tell everyone about it! If your review is published, you win yourself an irori and 2 Habbo Points. Real-life eateries only please. Your best friend's Habbo ice cream parlour may be stunning, but that's not quite what we're looking for. ;)

Submit your Food Review here.

News Article Guidelines

Have an article you wish to see in the News Sections for Habbo Tips & Bits, Moody Monday, or submitting your music/ book/ movie review or poll? Here are our editorial guidelines and the things we look out for

1. Spelling and Grammar
With word processors these days, it is easy to spell and grammar-check your article. :) Ensure there are no spelling errors or grammatical mistakes in your article.

Observe proper British English grammatical rules, such as "realise" instead of "realize", and use proper English such as "your" and not "ur".

2. Use Punctuation Correctly
A :) is not a full-stop. Please do not end your sentences like that :)

3. Habbo Hotel Brand Rules
"Habbo" is always spelt with a capital H. While "Habbo Hotel" is always two separate words. It would be preferable for you to refer to Habbos as Habbos, and not people, players, kids, or any other similar iteration.

Similarly, furniture in Habbo Hotel is referred to as "furni".

4. Never Plagarise
If you have been found to have submitted an article from another hotel or from another source, we will not publish it. Taking someone else's work is essentially stealing and definitely against the Habbo Way.

5. Observe the Habbo Way
This is quite self-explanatory.

6. No reprints
As much as we'd like to reprint a good article, we prefer to use original work. Please do not send work that has been published before.

7. Write Interesting Articles
Usually the best articles are straightforward and concise. Trim excess sentences and tighten up your article. Practice makes perfect! ;)

Submit all articles to newsletter.sg[at]sulake.com.

Event Classifieds Submissions

To submit an event proposal, email your event proposal to contact.sg [at] sulake.com. Please note that you'll need to know your Habbo's registered email address to send us your proposal. This would also be a good time to verify your email address, if you haven't already done so.

What You Get:

If your event is accepted for the Event Classifieds, you'll be awarded 2 Habbo Points. Fansite event hosts receive 1 Habbo Point. You may run more than 1 event a week, but will only receive Habbo Points for 1 regular event and 1 fansite event per Habbo per week.

How and What to Submit:

You must include in your event proposal:
* Event name:
* Event location:
* Event date:
* Event time:
* Event duration:

Please include a detailed proposal for your event. The more information you include in your proposal, the better. This means less back-and-forth over email asking you for further details about your event. The fewer emails we have to send you asking what your event involves, the faster we'll be able to say yes to your event!

Because we receive many event proposals, submissions without a detailed proposal and incomplete submissions will be not be accepted and will be deleted.

Tips on Getting Your Event Accepted:

Generally, we do not include simple games like Sumo, Falling Furni, and similar games for inclusion in the Event Classifieds, unless they are part of a larger festival or event, or run by an official fansite.

We're always happy to look at original game ideas, or events with a cool concept.

Please also note the following:
* If you're doing a quiz, please send us a list of all the questions you plan to ask, and the answers you intend to accept.
* If you're having a talk, send us a detailed script.
* If you're proposing a new game, describe the game, how it's played and what rules are involved.

If you are offering prizes for your event, or holding some form of a competition, please provide details of those as well.

Also, make sure your event venue is ready for the public when submitting your proposal. If it's not ready when the staff drop in to check it out (and oh, yes, we do!), we cannot consider your proposal for the Event Classifieds.

If you wish to run an event for an official fansite, please contact the fansite owners or admins with your idea for their approval first. They know where the secret fansite event proposal tunnel is. ;)

Deadline for Submission:

The deadline for submissions is noon Thursday the week before your event. E.g. if you want to submit an event for Monday, 3 July 2006, you must send your event proposal in by 29 June 2006 for it to be considered. This allows us time to look over your event proposal and sort out any problems there may be. Late submissions will not be accepted.

You are welcome to invite any of the staff and moderators to your event (we love events!) but if you're planning an event for after office hours, or on weekends, Habbo staff may not be able to attend. We'll do our best, but no promises! ;) We can't guarantee the moderators' availability either. Again, the more lead time you give, the better we can help you. If you can directly contact whoever you want to invite, that's even better.

And if you are lucky enough to have your event is listed in the Calendar, do make sure you turn up, or we may have to set Kitty on ya!

Habbo Mediabugs Submissions

Spot Habbo Hotel SG mentioned in a newspaper, magazine, on the radio, or just about anywhere else in the mass media and email us. You will receive a special token of appreciation. :)

Important things to note:
1. Our ads don't count.
2. Your friends' blogs and Habbo fansites don't count.
3. If the BugPoint leads to a Habbo Hotel mention, we reserve the right to decide if it's a worthy BugPoint.

Room Screenshots, Alt Designs and Photos Guidelines

When submitting images for room, alt or photo competitions, do take note of the following:

1. Screenshot is cropped to actual size, non-dithered, and in GIF or PNG (these are the only formats we accept).
2. Screenshot is addressed to competitions.sg[at]sulake.com (remove the [at] and replace it with an @ sign).
3. The competition name is in the email subject header.
4. Your file name is in the relevant format:
a) Room design competitions - habboname_roomname.gif
b) Photography competitions - habboname_photocaption.gif
c) Alt design competitions - habboname_altname.gif

5. In the body of your email you have included a) Your Habbo Name, b) Your Room Name, and c) Concept Paper (if required).

REMINDER: Do not dismantle your room until the judging is over or you will be disqualified. If you do win, keep your room intact for 1 week from the announcement date so that Habbos may appreciate your hard work. Any entries found to be copied from another site will be immediately disqualified.

I. Preparing and submitting your screenshots using PAINT

a) Ensure you have an image editor ready such as PAINT, which comes with your PC.

b) Go to your own room and click the Prt Sc (PRINTSCREEN) button on your keyboard. If you are using a laptop you may need to press Fn and Prt Sc together.

c) Click START, ACCESSORIES, PAINT. Choose Edit and Paste. If you can, crop the image to the exact room or photo size, then save it. If you use Paint, make sure you save your image as PNG, not GIF. Saving it as a GIF will dither the image, and may affect your chances of winning.

II. Preparing and submitting your screenshot using GIMP

a) Ensure you have an image editor ready. If you do not have one, download a free editor from download.com such as The GIMP and install it. The following tutorial will be conducted using the GIMP.

b) Open your room and press the button Prt Sc (PRINTSCREEN) on your keyboard. If you are using a laptop you may need to press Fn and Prt Sc together.

c) Run The Gimp. Go to File -> Acquire -> From Clipboard.

d) Select the Crop icon as highlighted on the left (right hand side, second from top). Select a rough area you wish to crop. Click Crop. Crop again if necessary till it is the actual room or photo size. (Click Undo if you made a mistake.)

e) When you are satisfied with the sizing, click Image -> Mode -> Indexed.

f) Ensure Generate Optimum Palette and No Colour Dithering are selected. Click OK.

g) Click File -> Save-As. Choose a folder to save the file in, and choose a file name with your Habbo name in it and a .gif extension, e.g. HabboPage.gif.
